PROFILE


Born 22 March 1958 in Columbus, GA. Started shooting in 1969 at the Carlisle Barracks Rifle Club in Carlisle, Pa. Earned the NRA Junior Distinguished Badge before moving to Alexandria, VA in 1970. Became a member of the very successful Acorns Junior Rifle Club that won the 1974, 1975, and 1976 National Junior Rifle Team Championships and set many National Records. Won many individual National Junior Championships through great support from her parents and many hours of training.  Made 1975 Pan American Games in Open 10m Air Rifle as a high school student. Attended East Tennessee State University on a rifle scholarship. Received the 1977 Award of Merit from Sports Illustrated.

 

She was commissioned in 1980 and graduated from the Air Defense Artillery (Nike Hercules) Officer Basic School and the Airborne School and assigned to the USAMU International Rifle Section in February 1981.

 

Other accomplishments included a Bronze medal in the 1982 Interservice 300m Std Rifle Championships, plus was a firing member of the 1983 CISM 300m Standard Rifle Team winning two Gold team medals and setting team records in the rapid fire and overall team event. She also won the 1983 Women's Interservice Std Rifle Prone Championship, was the 1983 Women’s Smallbore Free Rifle Champion, was the 1983 Women's Air Rifle Sectional Champion, and was presented the 1985 Women's Sports Foundation Revlon Armed Services Award For Athletic Excellence. Set over 150 NRA National Records.

 

Was a member of the USAR Shooting Team 1987 - 1992.
